Matt Bortz
President / Chief Operating Officer
Prior to becoming a founder of SportsHD in 2005, Bortz specialized in the sports and media marketplace. In the course of his 15+ year professional career, he managed staff on numerous projects for many major professional and collegiate sports leagues and affiliated teams, including the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, and the PGA Tour. Additionally, he conducted a variety of projects for broadcast TV networks such as ABC-TV and cable television networks such as Fox Sports World.
Through his work, he developed extensive contacts within the sports and television industries, including those at the highest levels of each of the major professional sports leagues in the United States. Additionally, having performed projects for dozens of individual teams, his contacts at the franchise level are unparalleled.
Bortz has extensive experience in valuing media rights, including broadcast and cable television, radio and Internet, both at the national and local level. His valuation methodology combines an analytical approach to valuing sports media rights with hands-on operational knowledge of the advertiser's perspective.
Bortz, through his firm, BORTZ Sports, a leading sports marketing consulting agency, is also known for his expertise in developing comprehensive sales and marketing programs for sports clients around the country. He also has conducted projects and advised clients on market research, new business planning, financial and market analysis, acquisitions, and strategic planning.
Bortz has published numerous articles in industry publications such as Team Marketing Report, PanStadia International and TVWeek.

Craig Jonas, Ph.D.
Principal / Chief Business Development Officer
Dr. Jonas specializes in sports-related corporate relationships, sponsorships and media integration.
His clients have included Basketball Travelers, Inc. (the leader in NCAA DI basketball tournaments and foreign tours); PE4lifeĀ® (a national advocate for physical education in schools); Inside Edge (a leading baseball scouting service); and The World University Games (the largest international athletic competition outside the Olympics).
His recent career highlights include securing national broadcast television and sponsoring advertising relationships for the Paradise Jam, a Basketball Travelers tournament (including FoxSports, Home Depot, United States Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, Nike, Avis); and significant funding for PE4life (reaching aggressive budgetary goals, including relationships with Polar, Tanita, Jamba Juice, Nike, Reebok, Gatorade, Wilson and others in the sporting goods manufacturing industry).
Previously, he served as Vice President for Business Development for the broadcast media technology firm, Sportvision, best known for inventing the virtual yellow line in NFL broadcasts and NASCAR enhancements. Prior to Sportvision, Jonas served as Executive Vice President for Coach's Edge and helped initiate a $100M+ merger with Sportvision. With both Sportvision and Coach's Edge, he established extensive media relationships and secured sponsorship deals with industry leaders such as CBS Sports, ESPN, Yahoo!, AOL, EA Sports, Sega, Compaq, USA Today, Sportsline, NBA, NFL, NASCAR, and others.
Jonas has authored articles on sports technology and coaching in the digital age. In addition, he has been the featured speaker at national and international sports media and technology forums. He played basketball at Carleton College, received his master's at Colorado State University, and his doctorate at the University of Kansas. He has coached basketball, golf and volleyball at the collegiate and high school levels.
